Today we are going to talk about the Ford 6.0 diesel. I love this engine. I believe they call it job security. Actually, they are awesome engines once bullet proofed. And the injectors aren’t too bad either WHEN YOU USE THE RIGHT OIL. The fuel injectors on this motor utilize a high pressure oil system to correctly operate. This means that if there is an oil issue, you will have a drivability issue.

This also means that if you use an oil that does not have an anti-foaming agent you will have premature injector failure. Let me say that again. Using oil that does not meet the Ford spec for this engine will result in fuel injector failure. A set of injectors will set you back $4000-$8000. Save money, use the right oil.

Side note: API released a new oil spec for diesel engines (CK-4 and FA-4). This oil is NOT backwards compatible. Service bulletins from Ford, as well as others that specifically tell the shops NOT to use the new oil as it will cause internal engine damage.
